How to use the Graduation Planner (GP)

The Graduation Planner (GP) is a comprehensive college planning tool.

For students to access GP, they will select the Graduation Planner from the dropdown menu on the top left-hand corner.

Once GP is accessed, the Student Profile will be on the screen.

Students will complete each section, clicking next at the bottom of each page. The GP provides for the student to enter not only their academic information but also their activities.  GP then uses the information gathered to help students compare colleges.

Colleges

Students will select Colleges from the top menu bar. Once the colleges screen is pulled up, they can either work with the Find Colleges method to search schools based on a multitude of filters or Enter College Name if they know the specific colleges that they are interested in.  Their College List will be populated on the right-hand side.

Fit and Match

Students will then explore their selected colleges through the Fit and Match where they are provided a College List to probe. It is important to note that the prediction model that is used is dependent on the accuracy of the information provided. The results are printable.

To determine their compatibility with each school, students are given the yearly cost and the following information:

Cost and Aid

Students are given the opportunity to explore the College Cost and Aid.  This allows students to understand how to plan for the expense of college.  Students will delve into two main components:

  • College Cost
  • Aid Forms

You can see the subparts of each section that students will work through.  In addition, there are two great sources of information for students to explore Code Components and Financial Aid Opportunities.  Students are provided next steps which includes Merit Aid and State Aid.  The Aid Form section will help students understand the relationship between income, allowances, and assets and the cost of college.
